The importance of Mercy Seat is twofold:
- it is the place of the Lord’s revelation of His Word to Moses from the cloud of His presence between the cherubim figures (Ex. 25:22, Num. 7:89)
- the place where blood was sprinkled on the Day of Atonement (Lev. 16)
