1. God’s Word

  • don’t forget but keep
  • benefits:
    • long life
    • peace

My son, do not forget my law,
But let your heart keep my commands; Proverbs 3:1
For length of days and long life
And peace they will add to you. Proverbs 3:2

Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path. Psalms 119:105

 

2. God’s Values mercy and truth

  • kindness / mercy
  • truth
  • benefits
    • favour with God and man
    • high-esteem with God and man

Let not mercy and truth forsake you;
Bind them around your neck,
Write them on the tablet of your heart, Proverbs 3:3
And so find favor and high esteem
In the sight of God and man. Proverbs 3:4

Do not let kindness and truth leave you;
Bind them around your neck,

3. God’s Trust / life, a life lived by trusting in God

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding; Proverbs 3:5

Some trust in chariots, and some in horses;
But we will remember the name of the Lord our God. Psalms 20:7

5. God’s Fear

  • living by God’s fear is not to live man’s fear /  living by the fear of God is not to live by the fear of man

      • health
      • strength
      • vitality

Fear the Lord and depart from evil. Proverbs 3:7
It will be health to your flesh,[b]
And strength[c] to your bones. Proverbs 3:8

 

6. God’s Honour

  • honour with total wealth
  • honour with first fruit / first profit
  • benefits:
    • abundance of material possessions
    •  abundance of finances / trade unit

Honor the Lord with your possessions,
And with the firstfruits of all your increase; Proverbs 3:9
10 So your barns will be filled with plenty,
And your vats will overflow with new wine. Proverbs 3:10

 

7. God’s Dealings / Discipline

  • respond to God’s dealings
    • to take heed
  • be susceptible to God’s dealings
    • to follow
  • God’s discipline = God’s love

11 My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord,
Nor detest His correction; Proverbs 3:11
12 For whom the Lord loves He corrects,
Just as a father the son in whom he delights. Proverbs 3:12
